This rare and regal French pendant brooch was masterfully hand fabricated in 18K gold and darkened silver, c 1880. Centering on a multi-chromatic cabochon opal, swirling with lime green and electric blues mixed with waves of neon yellow, crowned with a warm .90 carat old mine-cut diamond, elegantly framed in a scrolling foliate motif sprinkled with old mine and rose-cut diamonds. The finishing touches are a pair of sculpted Sphinx, proudly seated on each side of the opal. This magnificent piece of jewelry art measures 2 5/8” x 2”
